The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have rejected Real Madrid's request to sign Kylian Mbappe, despite the French club's interest in the 21-year-old forward.
Mbappe is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world and has been linked with moves to several major clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona.
However, PSG have not yet made their decision on whether or not to retain Mbappe, who they believe will be a key player for them in the coming years.
In an interview with France Football magazine, Mbappe said that he was disappointed by the rejection from Paris Saint-Germain, but believes that his talent and potential still make him worth the wait.
"I am very disappointed about this," Mbappe said. "I'm sorry to see my name being mentioned again, especially after all the hype I've received.
"But I know it's going to happen eventually. I think I'll find my place at PSG, and I hope everyone else does too."
Despite the setback, PSG remain hopeful of securing Mbappe's services in the future, and they have continued to monitor his performances closely ahead of the start of the season.
"Kylian is a great talent, and we want to support him every step of the way," said PSG coach Thomas Tuchel. "We're looking forward to seeing how he develops over time."
