Barcelona secured their eighth consecutive victory in La Liga as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez combined to score two goals against Girona at Camp Nou on Saturday afternoon.
Messi, who has scored 45 goals in all competitions this season, opened the scoring with a stunning strike from outside the box before Suarez doubled Barcelona's lead just before half-time.
The Argentine striker then completed his hat-trick by heading home a corner kick late on, completing a memorable afternoon for the former Liverpool forward.
It was a perfect response for Barca after losing their previous match away to Real Madrid, while it also marked the first time they have won six games in a row since December last year.
Girona, meanwhile, remain winless in their last seven matches across all competitions, despite the fact that they had a strong start to the campaign under new coach Victor Valverde.
However, the Catalans' struggles continue with a lacklustre performance that saw them concede two goals to a side that has struggled for form themselves.
Despite the defeat, Girona will be encouraged by the return of Brazilian winger Raul Albiol, who returned to action following a long-term injury.
As for Barcelona, they can now look ahead to their next match against Sevilla in La Liga, where they will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches.
